TL;DR (Too Long; Didn't Read)

Most people find that our New Channel workflow is intuitive, and that they can work through it themselves with little help.

What follows on this article is a deep-dive into all of the available settings on each part of the New Channel workflow–and there are many customization options we make available to our customers!

We recommend giving the New Channel workflow a try first, and then come back to this article for more in-depth information about any of the settings that you find there!

To get started, just log in to the Movebooth Online Dashboard and click the "New Channel" button in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 1: Log in to the Movebooth Online Dashboard

New Channels are created using the Movebooth Online Dashboard, so you'll want to log in to your active Movebooth account there first.

After successfully signing in, you will be on the Channels screen, where all of your account's Movebooth Channels will be listed. It looks like this:

Step 2: Click the "New Channel" Button

Locate the button called, "New Channel," in the upper right corner of the screen, and click to launch the New Channel setup workflow.

Step 3: Add Basic Info Settings to the New Channel

The first step of the New Channel setup workflow is to add what we call, "Basic Info." These settings are as follows:

Here's a breakdown of each Basic Info setting.

Setting

Visibility

Description

Example

Client Name

Only people with access to your Movebooth Channel Settings.

Think of "Client Name" like a folder or category to help you find related Channels. It could be the name of a person or department that uses your Movebooth, the name of a particular event, etc.

ACME Corp. Sports Marketing Team

Channel Name

Only people with access to your Movebooth Channel Settings.

This is a unique name for this Channel that will help you identify it.

ACME State University Football Gameday

Gallery URL

This is the unique URL at which this Channel's online image gallery will be accessed.

Password Protect Gallery

Anyone you share the gallery password with.

This controls public visibility of the images on this Channel's online image gallery. When toggled ON, a password is required to view images on the gallery.

Toggled ON with password entered, acmelovesstate

Customization Type

Only people with access to your Movebooth Channel Settings.

This controls the way graphics such as the logo and photo filters will be created for this channel. If you want to design and upload your own graphics, select, "Upload my own graphics." If you want to use template graphics provided by Movebooth, select, "Use a Movebooth theme."

Selected "Upload my own graphics."

Active Until

Only people with access to your Movebooth Channel Settings.

If you want to make sure that nobody uses this Channel after a particular date, you can use this field to set an end date. Otherwise, you can leave the default setting of, "No End Date," and this Channel will remain active and usable indefinitely.

No End Date

After completing your Basic Info settings, you'll be able to click the "Save and Next" button in the bottom-right corner of the screen to continue to the next step of the New Channel workflow.

Step 4 (Upload My Own Graphics Version): Add Your Own Branding

If you selected "Use a Movebooth Theme" as your Customization Type on the prior step, skip to Step 4 (Use a Movebooth Theme Version).

The next step of the New Channel workflow is to add your branding throughout the Movebooth end user experience. On this step, you'll see our unique visualizers which will give you previews of how each customization will look in the context of the Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad, your guests' images, and your Movebooth Online Gallery. Nifty!

The available settings are as follows:

Here's a breakdown of each Branding setting.

Description

Requirements

App Logo

The "App Logo" is the graphic that appears in the top middle of the start screen in the Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad. This is what your guests will see at the event.

One .PNG file that is exactly 1300 px wide by 800 px tall. This graphic should contrast against a dark background.

App Background (Color Picker Version)

The "App Background" is used throughout the Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad, including behind your App Logo on the start screen and the sharing screen where your guests will input their information such as email and phone number to receive a copy of their images. Most people use a single color background, so we've included an option to generate this background for you using a simple color picker.

Select a dark background color that will contrast against the white foreground elements which are used in the Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad. Foreground elements include app UI text layers and form field text which your guests will need to be able to read to use the app effectively.

App Background (File Upload Version)

The "App Background" is used throughout the Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad, including behind your App Logo on the start screen and the sharing screen where your guests will input their information such as email and phone number to receive a copy of their images. Instead of using the App Background (Color Picker Version), you can upload your own custom background design.

One .PNG file that is exactly 1536 px wide by 2048 px tall. Because the Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad is designed to show a subtle, blurred live preview of what the front-facing iPad camera sees throughout all screens, we recommend making custom App Backgrounds slightly transparent, but no less than about 80% opacity for best results. This graphic should contrast against white foreground elements such as app UI text layers and form field text which your gusts will need to be able to read to use the app effectively. This graphic can be visually "busier" around the edges, but should generally be visually simple so as not to interfere with foreground elements in the Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad.

Photo Filters

Photo Filters are graphics that can be placed over each image that your guests create. If your Movebooth App License Tier supports it, multiple Photo Filter files can be uploaded to provide your guests with options to choose from at the time they create their images.

One or more .PNG files that are exactly 960 px wide by 1280 px tall. Photo Filters will be layered on top of your guests' images, so be sure to leave significant areas that are completely transparent–particularly in the middle and towards the top 1/3 of the composition where guests' faces are most likely to appear–in order for guest images to show through. Think of the "safe area" to compose your Photo Filter graphics like a frame or matte you would place around a photo.

Gallery Logo

By default, the graphic that you upload to the App Logo field will also be used as the header graphic on your online gallery. However, you can also use a separate logo that appears only on the Gallery by uploading a new file to this field.

One .PNG file that is exactly 1300 px wide by 800 px tall. This graphic should contrast against a dark background.

Gallery Headline

Optionally, you can add Headline copy that appears underneath the Logo on your online gallery.

Optional written copy.

Gallery Sub-Headline

Optionally, you can also include Sub-Headline copy underneath the Headline on your online gallery.

Optional written copy.

CTA Button Label

If you enter text in the CTA Button Label field, a button will appear under your Logo and, if applicable, any Headline and/or Sub-Headline copy that you have added to your online gallery. This is useful for redirecting your online gallery visitors to any other landing page or other link.

Optional written copy.

CTA Button URL

If entered, this is the link where your online gallery visitors will be directed to upon clicking the optional CTA button on your gallery.

Optional URL.

Gallery Background

The "Gallery Background" is used only on your Channel's online gallery.

Select a dark background color that will contrast against the white foreground elements which are used in the Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad. Foreground elements include app UI text layers and form field text which your guests will need to be able to read to use the app effectively.

After completing your Branding settings, you'll again be able to click the "Save and Next" button in the bottom-right corner of the screen to continue to the next step of the New Channel workflow.

Step 4a (Use a Movebooth Theme Version): Select a Movebooth Theme

When using a Movebooth Theme for your Channel's graphics, the next step of the New Channel workflow is to select the Movebooth Theme that you'd like to start with. On this step, you'll see our unique visualizers which will give you previews of how each Movebooth Theme will look in the context of the Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad and on your guests' images.

The fonts and accent graphics of each Movebooth Theme are fixed, but the text and background colors are customizable by you.

The available Movebooth Themes are as follows:

After clicking on your preferred Movebooth Theme, you will automatically be taken to the next step in the New Channel workflow.

Step 4b (Use a Movebooth Theme Version): Customize Your Movebooth Theme

Once you've selected your preferred Movebooth Theme, the next step of the New Channel workflow is to customize the Movebooth Theme for your Channel on the "Logo" tab.

Once again on this step, you'll see our unique visualizers which will give you previews of what your graphics will look like based on your customizations. These settings are as follows:

Here's a breakdown of each Logo setting.

Setting

Description

Logo Line 1

Sets the main text on the first text line of your Movebooth Theme logo. Text will automatically resize based on the number of characters entered, and will be as large as possible to fill the available space in the logo design.

Logo Line 2

If applicable, sets the secondary text on the second text line of your Movebooth Theme logo. Text will automatically resize based on the number of characters entered, and will be as large as possible to fill the available space in the logo design.

Background

Sets the background color that will be used in the Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad as well as the Movebooth Online Gallery for this Channel.

Photo Filter Enabled

Some Movebooth Themes come with optional graphics that can be used on the Photo Filter, which is the overlay that is added on top of all of your guests' images. Movebooth Themes with these optional graphics have a toggle switch allowing you to show or hide the optional graphics.

After completing your Logo settings, you'll again be able to click the "Save and Next" button in the bottom-right corner of the screen to continue to the next step of the New Channel workflow.

Step 5: Select Photo Settings

The next step of the New Channel workflow is to customize how you want your guests' images to look, including what we call "Capture Mode" and "Image Style." Here's what those settings look like in the Movebooth Online Dashboard:

And here's a breakdown of the Photo settings you'll find there:

Setting

Description

Capture Mode

The Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad can capture your guests in four unique formats:

  • Classic GIF: Four distinct photos are taken with a countdown in between each. Images are assembled together in a GIF that cycles through all four photos in a loop.

  • Boomerang GIF: Guests are captured in one second of video (no audio) that is then assembled into a GIF that plays forward and backward in a loop.

  • Still: Guests are captured in a single still photo with no movement or animation.

  • Story Video: Guests are captured in a video clip with audio. This mode works best with an external microphone plugged into the iPad and with a relatively quiet ambient environment. Story Video mode is most often used in a "confessional booth" type of format with a prompt that is printed on a poster or sign near the photo booth (e.g. In a 30 second video, please give your best piece of marriage advice to the newlyweds).

Image Style

The Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad can also stylize your guests' images in Black & White or what we call "Glitch" style, which is Black & White but with a anaglyphic (red-blue) 3D effect added to it. Select "Standard" for no additional styling on your guests' images.

After completing your Photos settings, you'll again be able to click the "Save and Next" button in the bottom-right corner of the screen to continue to the next step of the New Channel workflow.

Step 6: Customize Your Sharing Settings

If your Movebooth App License Tier supports it, you'll be able to make changes to what information you collect from your guests, and how they share the images they create. Here's what those settings look like in the Movebooth Online Dashboard:

All Movebooth App License Tiers allow your guests to share their images by email, text message, and social media, but some Tiers allow you to collect this and other information using the same form that users fill out on the Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad to share their images.

If these settings are available to you in your subscribed Movebooth App License Tier, you will be able to:

  1. Enable/Disable enhanced lead data fields like First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, and/or ZIP code. Only enabled fields will be shown on the guest image sharing form in the Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad.

  2. Make any enabled enhanced lead data field required in order for guests to submit the image sharing form in the Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad.

  3. Enable/Disable image sharing fields like email, text message, and/or Twitter. Only enabled fields will be shown on the guest image sharing form in the Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad.

  4. Make any enabled image sharing field required in order for guests to submit the image sharing form in the Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad.

  5. Enable/Disable guest sharing from the Movebooth Online Gallery by email, text message, Twitter, and/or Facebook. Only enabled fields will be shown on the guest image sharing form in the Movebooth Online Gallery.

After completing your Sharing settings, you'll again be able to click the "Save and Next" button in the bottom-right corner of the screen to continue to the next step of the New Channel workflow.

Step 7: Customize Your Messaging

If your Movebooth App License Tier supports it, you'll be able to make changes to the messaging that your guests receive each time they share one of the images they create. Here's what those settings look like in the Movebooth Online Dashboard:

And here's a breakdown of the Messaging settings you'll find there:

Setting

Description

Email Subject

Sets a custom subject line for all images shared by email.

Email Body Copy

Adds custom body copy to all email shares below the embedded image.

Email CTA Button Label

Adds a CTA button to all email shares below the embedded image and, if applicable, below the Email Body Copy.

Email CTA Button URL

Sets the destination of the optional Email CTA button when clicked.

Email CTA Button Background Color

Sets the color of the optional Email CTA button.

Email CTA Button Text Color

Sets the color of the text inside the Email CTA button. This text is what was entered in the "Email CTA Button Label" field.

Text Message Copy

Sets the copy that accompanies guests' images when they share them by text message. URLs such as the Movebooth Online Gallery URL for the Channel and/or external URLs can be included in the Text Message Copy.

Tweet Copy

Sets the copy that accompanies guests' images when they share them on Twitter. All Twitter image shares originate from the @moveboothco official Twitter account and begin with @username (where username is what your guest entered as their Twitter handle in the Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad). Any custom Tweet Copy follows directly after the @username tag.

After completing your Messaging settings, you'll again be able to click the "Save and Next" button in the bottom-right corner of the screen to continue to the next step of the New Channel workflow.

Step 8: Add Custom Terms

If your Movebooth App License Tier supports it, you'll be able to add custom terms to the Terms & Conditions that your guests opt into when they use Movebooth, share their images, and fill out forms.

Movebooth's terms are crafted with our clients' ability to collect and use guest data in mind, as described in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. However, subscribers of the PRO Movebooth App License Tier can prepend their own custom terms to the top of our default terms, which users can access by tapping on Terms links on the Start screen and the Sharing Form screen in the Movebooth Photo Booth App for iPad.

Most of our clients find that our default terms are sufficient for their needs, however, this is not legal advice, and we recommend that you discuss your legal requirements with your own legal counsel before using Movebooth to collect and process user data.

Here's what our Custom Guest Terms settings look like in the Movebooth Online Dashboard:

Step 8: Click "Save & Finish"

At this point, you should have completed all of the steps of the New Channel workflow, and you are ready to save and launch your New Channel by clicking the "Save & Finish" button in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

You will be redirected back to the main Channels screen, where you will now see the new Channel you have just created in your list of Channels.

Congratulations! You've now created a new channel!
